KMMD instructors are all certified via Krav Maga Worldwide, held to the highest standard of proficiency and ability. Each instructor has completed and passed a separate certification per Krav Maga level that they actively teach, and complete a mandatory in-house apprenticeship to ensure that you receive the highest level of instruction and experience possible!
I have been considering taking Krav Maga. I studied Hwarangdo for 3 years and loved every minute of it. It’s a very effective and comprehensive combat art, and I found that even as a yellow belt, I could hold my own sparring and grappling against higher belts from other arts.
There is value in all arts if taught well and practised diligently, but most schools fail their students in not providing realistic practise. You must have the techniques to what’s that are instinctive,
Canty and Allen approached Goetz, and Canty said, “Give me five dollars.” Goetz responded by standing up and firing at the youths with a handgun. Goetz fired four shots before pausing. He then walked up to Cabey and reportedly said, “You seem to be all right, here’s another,” whereupon he fired his fifth and final bullet into Cabey’s spinal cord. Goetz had shot two of the youths in the back. Ramseur and Cabey each had a screwdriver, which they said they used to break into coin boxes and video machines.
Our approach is to acquaint you with these elements so you can recognize this distortion — and its significance — early enough that you can extract yourself from a situation without having to resort to physical violence. It is far, far easier to stop, take a deep breath, turn and walk away than it is to physically combat your way out of an attack — especially if weapons are involved.
Jiu-Jitsu is not a bad fighting form in itself, if it has sparring it should temper reflexes. But Mid-South Krav Maga seem to have the correct alignment and seems legit as their instructors regularly travel to Israel for training. So they should give you proper Krav Maga training. All the best!
One thing that I do feel that is underestimated in the KFM training and hard to put into words is that there training cultivates ‘fighting spirit’. They call this the predator/ prey mentality and their drills develop this attitude to get you  press the ‘switch’ in your mind that stops you thinking that you will become a victim and turns you into a ball of energy that is ready to fight.” – Andrew Holland of selfdefenceexpert.com
One of our owns pretty mug made the COPS TV shows editors chopping block! Doug Ericsson will be aired in this Saturday’s Las Vegas episode of COPS. Those of you who have worked with “Douglas”shouldn’t be surprised. His charming smile and demeanor is contagious. For the boys and girls of TAC*ONE he is also Fox’s Favorite as well, not […] The authors assessed the impact of self-defense training for women on multifaceted aspects of perceived self-efficacy. For many people, styles that emphasize realistic street encounters like Krav Maga make the most sense. That is because Krav Maga is focused on the threats posed by direct attacks, including the use of weapons. That can be very practical, as a rapist will often use a knife or other weapon.
Self-Defense Training Camp was panned by critics. IGN gave the game a 1.0 out of 10 and named it one of the worst games of 2011,[12] specifically criticizing its graphical quality (with characters that “move like busted, confused robots”), poorly implemented motion detection, and the game’s concept as a whole—since players would not be applying the techniques they are learning to physical targets.[7] Official Xbox Magazine gave Self-Defense Training Camp a 3.5 out of 10, feeling that the game “implies you can easily learn how to break free of any hold without any proper feedback, practice, or, you know, another person there”, criticized its “bland” supplemental content, and also noticed the game had “a weird preoccupation with going for the groin.”[8] GameZone gave Self-Defense Training Camp a score of 6.0 out of 10, noting that the game puts a large amount of emphasis on workouts, but stated that players “can probably work out more of a sweat playing Dance Central or Kinect Sports.”[6] All “self-defense” is is taking these same skill sets and applying them in a slightly different context. To a large degree, they are the same skills with some slight “tweaks.” Properly applied, you will never have to use physical force to protect yourself because you will learn to steer yourself clear from situations where violence is likely.
The self-defense laws of modern legislation build on the Roman Law principle of dominium where any attack on the members of the family or the property it owned was a personal attack on the pater familias and also on biblical sources, namely Exodus.[13] In Leviathan (1651), Hobbes argues that although some may be stronger or more intelligent than others in their natural state, none are so strong as to be beyond a fear of violent death, which justifies self-defense as the highest necessity. In his 1918 speech Politik als Beruf (Politics as a Vocation), Max Weber defined a state as an authority claiming the monopoly on the legitimate use of force within defined territorial boundaries. Modern libertarianism characterizes the majority of laws as intrusive to personal autonomy and, in particular, argues that the right of self-defense from coercion (including violence) is a fundamental human right. In this context, note that Article 12 Universal Declaration of Human Rights states:
Personally im a huge fan of martial arts as a being a big part of your life and a bit of a philosophy, like for example the tenants of TaeKwonDo I think are great to live by, but even still I wouldnt put TKD forward as suitable for self defence, its just hugely inefficient to learn, it takes years to be good enough at it to be really suitable for self defence as learning basic self defence quickly isnt what it is designed for, it is designed to train you to kill people.
Upon entering the target, the bullet’s hollowed out shape and exposed lead tip will contribute to reliable mushrooming meanwhile its strong copper jacket and cannelure prevent separation hence resulting in the perfect combination of deep penetration as well as maximum energy transfer.
It depends on what you are looking for in your art. BJJ is very effective for one-on-one fighting but for street defence where more then one person is involved it might be a challenge. It has to be with something like Muay Thai or Krav Maga. Escrima takes longer to learn but it focuses more on self defence and street fighting so once again it depends on what you are looking for and how long you are planning to do it. All the best.
