Can’t seem to find their affiliations on their site so can not unfortunately comment on their validity. Would rather recommend http://www.kravmagax.com/ as they are directly aligned with Eyal Yanilov. All the best
The plus side of MMA is that your skills levels increase very quickly in all areas. As such you soon become a very skilled opponent for any attacker. The downside of this is of course that you are focused on sport and not self defence. There is zero knife defence and no multiple opponent training however your individual unarmed ability becomes very impressive.
By combining modified moves found in Judo and Japanese JuJutsu, the key to this martial arts style is to gain control and positioning over the adversary so that its devastating chokes, holds, locks and joint manipulations can be applied.
The thing that makes Judo so good for self defence is its single-minded approach to throwing people on the floor. A throw on a thick Judo mat can take the wind out of your sails yet a throw onto concrete will cause serious injury.

The hands stay on both sides of the head, the posture crouched so that the whole body is ready for explosive power, and that the front of the torso is protected by the forearms.
Built on simple principles, instinctive movements, and practical techniques, Krav Maga started as the official self-defense system of the Israel Defense Forces. To this day it remains a favorite among law enforcement agencies, military personnel, and anyone who is interested in making the transformation of a lifetime. That’s right — anyone.
“I never thought 2 years ago that I will take a self defense class, but when my twin daughters were enrolled in it I would watch the class and think, “Man, I’d like to learn that.” So, at the age of 52, I enrolled in the class and 9 months later I took my first belt test, which like to have killed me. But it was a “badge of honor”, as Jack calls it. I felt proud that I accomplished something like that. I will continue to take it because of the way it makes me feel.”– Julie Pritchett
A person claiming self-defense must prove at trial that the self-defense was justified. Generally a person may use reasonable force when it appears reasonably necessary to prevent an impending injury. A person using force in self-defense should use only so much force as is required to repel the attack. Nondeadly force can be used to repel either a nondeadly attack or a deadly attack. Deadly Force may be used to fend off an attacker who is using deadly force but may not be used to repel an attacker who is not using deadly force.
Resistance to domination reveals the deception of this inverted world, destabilizing the practical operations of hierarchy and undermining its myths, for example of masculine sovereignty, white superiority, compulsory heterosexuality, and capital’s self-creation of value. Violence and various forms of coercion support these myths, but such violence would be ineffective if some groups were not socially, politically, and legally structured to be vulnerable to it.
Hi martial artist. I was told that it is not good to learn striking arts if you lift weights, because weight lifting is a pushing motion while striking is a snapping motion. Is it really that big of a deal? Are there any striking arts I can learn as a weight lifter? Is it ok to learn krav maga if you lift weights? I was told I should not train muay thai if I am a weight lifter becasue it will cause problems.
The Keysi Method has almost no kicks of any kind. It thrives on extreme close-quarters combat using every weapon the body can quickly wield in such a small space: fists, head, knees, and especially the elbows.

And no martial art style or self-defense system will ever be able to teach you everything you need to know about the complexities of violence … especially if you are in either a high risk situation or profession. And if anybody tells you differently, they are selling something. Maybe not to you, but then at least to themselves. Because in their minds, they want it to be as simple as “which martial art is best for self-defense?”
I am considering krav maga but I do like the martial art aspect of aikido, as an already experienced martial artist, do you think Yoshinkan Aikido would be an effective path to take? Or should I just not waste my time in it and commit to krav?
Someone may be interested in a self-defense workout for many different reasons. For one, certain people may live in areas where crime is common and self-defense is a necessity for “survival.” In other cases, people may want to learn self-defense and become stronger just in case or to boost their confidence. Also, self-defense workouts may relieve a lot of stress that a person may have.
The techniques I studied were similar to Muay Thai with the addition of knife and gun techniques. The reason I picked this art as one of my top five was its marginal simplicity, being a bit easier to master than the grappling forms of self-defence. It involves a lot of strikes rather than grabs making it easier to apply, since the area where the technique can be applied is much bigger than in grappling. I found almost all the techniques functional for a street situation. However, a few moves were exceptions and wouldn’t be so effective if common external factors, such as the attacker reacting in a resistant manner, kicked in. All in all, though, this art will teach you how to defend your life if necessary, even if your attacker is wielding a knife or a gun.
I am a 22 year old girl anf want to take up some martial art. My purpose for doing it is basically self defence, but I want to make a life long routine out it. What martial art do you suggest, considering that I have no experience? Also, thanks to genetics, I have decent muscle strength, so I woudn’t mind training in grappeling too. Also, I am from Delhi, India, and most of MA classes here are either a hoax or are way out of my budget. So I will be relying heavily on net for the lessons. So could you please refer some good websites or youtube channels that you follow?
